Romania and U.S. law enforcement cooperation leads to arrest of hacker

On January 31, 2012, the Romanian Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (DCCO) took into custody Cernaianu Manole Razvan, known online as "TinKode," in connection with hacking U.S. government, Romanian government, and other commercial websites. Cernaianu is accused of hacking websites such as NASA and the U.S Department of Defense.

Nokia Siemens Networks renews syndicated loan facility

Nokia Siemens Networks has signed forward starting term and multicurrency revolving facilities agreement valued at €1.305bn with 15 international banks, to replace Nokia Siemens Networks’ existing revolving credit facility when it matures in June 2012.

Siemens' revenue growth continues in first quarter of fiscal 2012

In the first quarter of its new fiscal year 2012, Siemens achieved increased revenue and laid the cornerstone for future growth, despite the difficult economic environment. Thanks to a strong order backlog, revenue for the first quarter rose two percent compared to the same period a year earlier, while new orders declined five percent year-over-year.

Connected TV to Dominate Global TV Shipments by 2015

With forecasts exceeding 80% of units shipped by 2015, connected TVs are expected to lead the way in global TV shipments escalating from 27% in 2011, according to new research from Futuresource Consulting. On a regional level, Japan leads the way in the adoption of connected TVs, with 59% of shipments in 2011 integrating IP connectivity as standard.

UltraViolet signs up 750,000 users, expands to UK

The Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE) announced that over 750,000 households have signed up to use its digital storage service UltraViolet since the launch in the US last autumn. The media industry has launched 19 titles enabled for UltraViolet, which allows users to store digital content purchased in the cloud and access it from different devices.

China Telecom starts business in Europe, UK

China Telecom is to launch as an MVNO in the UK, targeting Chinese residents and visitors to the country. The firm will launch on UK market-leader Everything Everywhere’s network beginning this quarter, marking the first time a Chinese operator has launched MVNO services outside China. Financial terms were not disclosed.
