The New Walkman Phone: Sony Ericsson W508
The Swedish company Sony Ericsson announced that the successor of the mobile phone W508 will be the new walkman phone W508, of clamshell type and with a stylish look, silvery-blue, which is the winner of the fineness category because of a certain option which changes the aspect of the carcass. It was only normal that such a respectable phone should have touchscreen sensitive buttons to control the music player.
Being a Sony Ericsson W508 clam phone, it has 2 screens: the OLED 1.1inch monochromatic display with a resolution of 128 x 36 pixels, and the main screen, twice bigger, with a standard QVGA resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Other notable characteristics are a 3.2 MP camera (no flash), bluetooth stereo headset, 2.0 MIDP Java, 2.0/ x HTML Wap browser, email, IM, FM radio and video calls. Moreover, the 3G/HSDPA handset has a shake control system, which allows you to jump files by a handshake, and a gesture control system, which allows you to turn on silent a call or to stop the alarm by waving your hand over the phone.
The new Sony Ericsson W508 comes with an extra carcass for changing the aspect of the phone (in the future more similar carcasses will be available), a 1GB M2 memory card. The internal memory has 100 MB and can be extended to 16 GB with the help of M2 cards. The phone weights less that 100g (98 g to be more exact) including the Li-Po battery, which can show off an autonomy of up to 10 hours for calls and 400 hours in stand-by mode. Sony Ericsson W508 is planned to appear in the second semester of this year, but unfortunately we don’t have yet any kind of information about its cost.
