Sony Ericsson Aino is one of the latest handsets of the company, which destroys the boundaries between the Walkman and Cyber-shot series and presents a fusion of these two in a single device, meant entirely to entertain you.

In the beginning, of course, I'll write a few lines about the design of Aino, which without doubt is one of the accents by this phone. It is a very stylish device - a complete beauty! Our version was coloured in white or as Sony Ericsson calls it - Luminous White. Moreover, Aino is a really compact gadget - you could put it in any of your pockets, it just fits everywhere and is pretty comfortable for holding even when working with only one hand. The whole front panel is taken by the large 3" display, and even the Call/End Call buttons are hidden under the slide mechanism, which unveils a standard numeric-alphabet keyboard. The buttons are convenient to use and there are no creaks when pressing them. The only downside here are the too small control buttons on the top of the keypad - it will be hard for you to get used to them, especially if your thumbs are too big. As whole, Aino is made out of quality materials and feels great - applause for that, Sony Ericsson.

The 3" screen has a resolution of 432x240 pixel and displays up to 16 million colours. It is really bright and shows perfect details in every image. It is not a conventional display however, as it is touch-sensitive, even if just in a few menus. Such are the special multimedia menu, which gives you access and easy touch-control of the camera, gallery, videos, music and radio. Touch-sensitive is also the area when you receive a phone call and the slider is closed. Than you get two slides on the screen and could answer the call with just a move of the finger.

As mentioned above, the accent by Sony Ericsson Aino is the multimedia. It offers audio player with rich functionality, great 8 MP camera, FM radio and other nice stuff. The browser is also really pleasant to use - it is simple, but loaded the pages in just a second.
The 8 MP camera comes with a lot of extras - there's LED flash, autofocus, face detector, macro mode, geotagging, VGA video recording and others. The images look clear on the phone's display as well as on the PC monitor, but sometimes the colours are too saturated.
The music experience with Aino is simply amazing! In the package it features the wireless Bluetooth headphones MH100, which provide high-quality sound and the connection with the phone happens in a second.

Sony Ericsson Aino is excellent when we talk about connectivity. It works in 3G networks with HSPA support, which includes both - HSDPA and HSUPA standards. So the fast internet connection is ensured! Aino also features Wi-Fi module and it's a DLNA-certified device, meaning you could browse through it your home network files. The handset also could be transformed in a remote control for your Sony PlayStation 3 - you just need internet connection and the preinstalled application Remote play.

And talking about applications - Aino has a lot of these! There are the navigation software Wisepilot, Google Maps, AccuWeather, YouTube, TrackID, Photo Mate and others.

In conclusion I can not tell you if the price of about EUR 400 is worth for the new Sony Ericsson Aino, but this review gives you an idea of what are the handset's strong and weak sides. Aino is definitely an innovative device targeted at the young people, which prize the untraditional design and the plenty of multimedia features, allowing them to enjoy superior entertainment wherever they go with their friends.
