An ordinary notebook? I don't think so. Even only from the title you already know that we are going to review the newest Acer model that has, as the company promised, a display that offers a real 3D sensation. So, I am sure that the most interesting thing for you now is how Acer succeed in creating a 3D viewing experience on your screen as they are the first PC vendor to present software that makes it possible. The answer is Acer 3D CineReal technology.

The display here is coated with a special 3D film that clings to the panel pixel by pixel, enabling the LCD technology to deliver a 3D visual feast. Slip on the polarized eyeglasses that filter the images and you're ready to dive into an extraordinary 3D adventure.

So on the outside you have a typical Acer characteristics for the Aspire series - curved lines, polished body, the well-known keyboard, standard ports... but on the inside - you will find a whole new world of stunning 3D multimedia. And what is more, this exact model is being promoted from the company as the best commercial 3D product so it is even not as expensive as you may expect. The price with the exact specification you will find here below is $1 008 without VAT.

Let's see what's inside this notebook and then we will come back again on the 3D extras. Besides the 3D viewing technology, Acer Aspire 5738DG has Dolby surround sound, a high-def graphics engine, and a premium Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz processor. In a combination with the 15.6" HD 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, high-brightness (220-nit) Acer CineCrystal LED-backlit TFT LCD with integrated TriDef 3D screen it will offer you very good user experience both for games and movies.

The list of hardware specifications continues with RAM 4GB, Mobility Radeon HD4570 512MB DDR3, HDD 500GB, DVD Super Multi, LAN, Bluetooth, 0.3mpx Web Cam, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet to ensure emailing, Web browsing or chatting. I/O Interface includes Multi-in-1 card reader (SD, MMC, MS, MS PRO, xD), HDMI port with HDCP support, 3xUSB 2.0, VGA (external display port), RJ-11, RJ-45, standard microphone and headphone/speaker jacks.

So now as I promised let's go back on the 3D a little bit more. The TriDef 3D Experience software inside the Acer Aspire 5738DG offers you 3D multimedia with no need for a special graphics card. A simple and intuitive interface switches between normal and 3D multimedia mode for vivid videos, DVDs, photos and games. The software includes a set of tools - TriDef Media Player for videos and pictures in 3D (supports on-the-go conversion of 2D videos and photos) and TriDef Ignition that enables 2D to 3D conversion for games and applications supporting DirectX 9 and above. So if you are a fan of modern games you will have no problems turning them into great 3D ones. Two pairs of polarizer eyeglasses in the pack will give you the opportunity to share the 3D experience so our final advice is... just unpack and enjoy!
