GR: Vodafone Greece awarded for its Telemedicine program
The telecom operator Vodafone Greece was awarded the Corporate Social Responsibility Excellence Award from the Greek Advertisers' Association for the ‘Telemedicine' program it has been running since 2006. The award is from the ‘Health & Social Solidarity' category.
Mr. Damianos Haralambidis, Vodafone Greece's COO was the one to receive the award and said that this award is important because it recognizes the program Vodafone Greece has been running to improve the day-to-day lives of people, living in remote areas of the country.
The Telemedicine program breaks down geographical barriers allowing residents of remote areas participating in the program, from places as far apart as Neo Sidirohori in Rhodopi, to the island of Gavdos, to cut down the number of trips they need to make to central hospitals and to receive specialised services locally.
