AL: Pollo: Post-Telecommunication is a champion of economic growth
Post-telecommunication in Albania is the sector which has experienced the major activity growth during the third quarter of 2009 compared to the other sectors.
Albanian State Minister Genc Pollo said that post-telecommunication was the “champion” sector of economic growth in the country. He added that this sector recorded a 34.3 percent growth during the third quarter of 2009 compared to the same period of the previous year and a 20.5 percent growth compared to the previous quarter.
“Encouraging developments have been observed in the county’s telecommunication sector. Its activity growth shows that this is the most dynamic sector of Albania,” Pollo said.
He added that this growth was also due to the entrance in the market of the third mobile operator which has managed to improve competitiveness resulting in lower prices and improvement of quality for all operators.
According to him, this sector would experience other improvements after the entrance in the market of the fourth mobile operator within the first six months of 2010 and after the implementation of the number portability as well as the third generation standard.
“Customers themselves will profit from these developments. The post-telecommunication sector includes economic activities such as the activity of the national post office, couriers, and telecommunication”, Pollo stated.
