BG: 3.2 million postpaid subscribers reports M-Tel
The first mobile operator in Bulgaria, M-Tel, also announced its financial results for 2009. During last year Mobiltel kept its leading position on the market with share of 50% and subscribers base of 5.3 million customers.
The company reports growth of its postpaid clients - from 2.8 million in 2008 they increase (by 13.9% or by 400 000 people) to 3.2 million in 2009. The share of postpaid customers is 59% of the total clients base, compared to 51.4% in year-end 2008.
The revenues for 2009 are 614,7 million euro, while in 2008 they amount to 667,4 million euro. The revenues decrease is by 7,9%. EBITDA for 2009 is 327,1 million euro, which is by 11,8% lower in comparison with year-end 2008 when EBITD was 370,9 million euro. Mobiltel revenue for the 4Q of 2009 is 149,2 million euro. In comparison withe the 2008 results (168,4 million euro)
there is a decrease. ARPU in 2009 has decreased from 9,6 euro in 2008. The income per client is partly offset by the usage increase.
Some curious statistics:
• 237% increase of Box users in comparison with 2008,
• 200% growth of net book sales, registered for 2009 in comparison with the previous year
• 150% increase in broadband users
• 42% increase of smart phones sales YoY
