E-mailroom – an innovation from Deutsche Post at CeBIT
Deutsche Post is working with public-sector partners to develop the concept of the e-mailroom. It will include interfaces for document-management, e-mail, fax and workflow systems while also performing such traditional mailroom functions as the processing of incoming and outgoing mail.
The incoming electronic letters will be sent directly to the appropriate organizational unit or government official. Paper letters and faxes will be digitalized so that they can be integrated into the electronic workflow.
The Deutsche Post portal also facilitates structured data collection. Citizens and companies will fill out forms there and send them securely to government agencies as Letter on the internet. Once there, the data can be directly entered into the administrative processing system.
And last but not least all outgoing data streams are transported through the e-mailroom and are transmitted from it electronically. Recipients who are not linked to the portal or prefer to receive their mail in the conventional manner will receive their government-related mail just as before: Deutsche Post will print out the letter, place it in an envelope and have it delivered by a mail carrier.
