It is obvious that this year Sony Ericsson definitely succeeded in attracting attention with a full gamma of brand new interesting mobile phones and what's even more important - smartphones. So, here we bump on the next two great devices from the manufacturer's portfolio - XPERIA X10 mini и X10 mini pro.

„Pro" = „QWERTY"

The truth is that we received X10 mini first and a few days later X10 mini pro arrived. The first impression for the X10 mini was that it is so small and the same was with Pro but here came the true exclamation "It's got a keybooooard!". And it is true that checking the specification you will find that X10 mini pro is some mm bigger than X10 mini, but actually when you see both phones at the same time you cannot tell the difference so well. They both can fit perfectly in your pocket or ladies purse. However mini pro lies better in your palm and that's surely because of it is 32 g heavier than X10 mini.

Now, if you start to wonder if these two small-sized smartphones have many differences besides the hardware QWERTY keyboard, you surely have a point. X10 mini & X10 mini pro has mainly physical differences. Functionally, they are even. The other main hardware difference is that X10 mini pro's battery can be exchanged by you while the X10 mini has it built in the phone's body. Anyway, this do not disturb the talk time in any case. Both models have equal specifications on that part and show a great performance as well. Within a permanent Internet connection checking out from time to time Apps like e-mail, Twitter, Facebook, etc., X10 mini & X10 mini pro survive a day and a half.

So, here is the deal. If you insist on the QWERTY, you choose Pro and continue reading. But here is something more X10 mini can offer for the fans of the color panels. It has 6 different colors panels included in the package. You can see the colors on the main picture illustrating this review. X10 mini pro does not have an option for exchange of panels, but it will be available in three versions also - white, red and black.

Android 1.6 now and soon Eclair 2.1

Sony Ericsson released X10 mini and X10 mini pro with Android OS 1.6, but the manufacturer assured us that in the beginning of Q4 the latest will come the 2.1 upgrade. However here on the 2.55" screens the UI is quite impressive and so is the Timescape App. To optimize the "not so big" but capacitive touchscreen, the company has developed a homescreen with 4 shortcuts in the 4 opposite angles. They can be personalized at any time according to your taste and needs and also you can use freely the Android OS homescreen to add any widget you want.

In the same time Timescape is a familiar App from XPERIA X10 that organizes all the updates from Facebook and Twitter, all your e-mails, SMS and calls in one current so the flow of information never ends. If you think of any other Apps, just check out the Android Market for it is a whole Universe for applications and most of them are for free.

Unfortunately, we cannot say the same for the navigation software. Of you want to use the GPS navigation you have to have in mind that the Wisepilot is a trial version and if you want to coninuе using it after that the price for 12 months is EUR 69.95.

Camera and entertainment
The Android smartphones Sony Ericsson X10 mini and X10 mini pro have surprisingly good entertainment features. The built in camera is 5МР with autofocus and flash, extra shooting modes like Auto, Macro, Twilight and Sports, VGA video with 30 fps. The MP3 sound is very good, so is the player and you have also 3,5 mm audio jack for plug in your favorite headphones.

X10 mini & X10 mini pro work in 3G networks and fully support HSPA. Browsing through 3G or WiFi is equally convenient and though the screen is so small everything is visible and well structured by the UI. Here we may make a little pause and remind you that you are reading this because you are interested in X10 mini and X10 mini pro and on the first place they are mini models, so does their screens. So, if you prefer something bigger try here. But if you are already fond of these little guys, give them a chance for they are really great Android choice!
