EN: Microsoft will start WP7 games business to compete Apple and Android
Sometimes GSMA surprises me with their conclusions, but never wonder if they are right or not. A recently found job posting on Microsoft's careers website indicates to the association that the company is planning to establish its own mobile gaming development team, to create products for its anticipated Windows Phone 7 device platform.
The posting found states that "Microsoft Games Studio is establishing a new studio - MGS Mobile Gaming," and that this team is "building industry leading products that showcase our Windows Phone platform as well as emerging mobile platforms. So, now the company is seeking someone to develop "services for our mobile gaming and entertainment titles." Translated in simple words Microsoft will not enter the world of Windows Phone 7 platform unprepared. They seem perfectly aware that in order to compete the other mobile platforms App Markets they have to be ready even before the WP7 devices are on the market.
This is the first sign we have that Microsoft has a real strategy take on Apple and Android.
