The Android smartphones family already has a true durable member, or as Motorola announced it - a dustproof, water and scratch resistant, boredom proof and virtually lifeproof smarphone - Motorola DEFY. The first one of its kind, you can take this model wherever you go. Skiing, climbing mountains, going rafting, or just to the gym. For young and active people that usually havew lots of problems with scratched displays or high humidity levels, DEFY is a perfect new solution. But let's take some steps in looking closer this Android model.

Tough, Really Tough, DEFY

Motorola DEFY is definitely not just another Android smartphone. As I said above, the handset is dustproof, water and scratch resistant, and what is even more interesting, it is fully protected against bumps and drops. And when I say drops... you can hit the floor with Motorola DEFY with all the power you have and the handset will stay completely unharmed. Motorola already prove that in front of my eyes and for all of you we gonna publish also a crash test soon. We also tried to scratch the screen with sharp objects like keys that you always carry around in your pockets or bags. However, the Motorola DEFY touchscreen is covered with Gorilla Glass, so the phone stayed unharmed. An one more experiment we did. If you dip the handset in water and even leave it there for a few minutes, the only efect is that music stops for a while and the phone is wet, but unharmed as well. BUT REMEMBER! Do not forget to leave in all the rubber covers and stoppers the phone has. Otherwise, the water will get in through the connectors and you will no longer have your mobile friend.

Hello MOTOBLUR!

Yes, Motorola DEFY comes with the MOTOBLUR enhanced interface that will securely sync all your social media and accounts, it will manage your battery life and even wipe all your phone content in case you lose it or it gets stolen. MOTOBLUR offers the so called Live Widgets - far better than the ordinary ones. And in the menu you have also two categories of Widgets - Motorola widgets and Downloaded widgets for all the content you add additionally from Android Market or else. Do not worry if you are a big Widgets and Apps fan for here in the DEFY menu you have 7 Homescreens to put you shortcuts on. And of course, with MOTOBLUR all the Homescreens are customizable.

The touchscreen of DEFY is a 3.7" WVGA (480 x 854 pixels), capacitive with multitouch suppport, but unfortunately not AMOLED and if you compare it to an AMOLED screen it looks a little bit pale. Anyway, the colors are real and very good and the display itself responds fast and accurate.

The smarphone comes with Android 2.1 Eclair, but from Motorola promised a Froyo update in the beginning of the year.

More extras

Motorola DEFY offers the full connectivity range - HSPA (HSDPA 7.2 Mbps (Category 7/8), HSUPA 2.0 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with DLNA support, GPS, 3.5 mm audio jack, microSD slot for up to 32 GB of additional memory, in the package you will receive 2GB card. DEFY has also 2 GB of integrated memory and 512 МВ RAM. The CPU here is at 800 MHz, but you will almost feel no difference working with DEFY or with an 1 Ghz-CPU device.

The battery is Li-Po 1540 mAh and by specifications offers 6 h 40 min Talk Time and over 230h in StandBy mode. We tested its life and the smarphone is really hard to exhaust. After hours of games and using different Apps it last for more than 2 days. In the entertainment part you have the full gamma that Android Market offers as well as comfortable МР3 Player, FM radio and 5 МР camera that records VGA video.
