Vodafone Greece announced the successful World of Difference candidates

Vodafone Greece announced the names of successful candidates in its innovative social investment program "Vodafone World of Difference", which was launched in Greece last September. The program allows the candidates selected to work for a public benefit NGO of their choice on a specific project.

The successful candidates, who will work for a year with the organisation of their choice, are as follows:

Katy Alevra
, who will manage the new Wildlife Care and Environmental Information Centre being built by the ANIMA Wildlife Protection and Care Association in Kalyvia, Attica.

Konstantinos Kostopoulos,
who will take up position as Professional Advisor with the Patra Mental Health Association, offering his services to mental health patients and their families.

Vasiliki Hatzopoulou, who will work with the PERPATO Prefecture of Rhodopi Association for the Mobility Challenged as a social worker, responsible for issues relating to care for the mobility challenged and accessibility in the Prefecture.

At the same time, Vodafone Greece also allowed its staff to participate in the program and to select their favourite NGO where they could work for 6 months. The successful candidate is Ioannis Rhoditis, who will work for the Smile of the Child Association as a Business Developer for the Southeastern Europe Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.

All applications were examined on a case-by-case basis, with core criteria being the candidates' commitment, dynamism and suitable skills, knowledge and qualifications for the position. In addition, every application was evaluated based on its value in humanitarian and social benefit terms, how feasible it was to implement it, and its viability.

The arduous task of selecting the final candidates was undertaken by a committee of five, whose task it was to single out the winning candidates via a series of face-to-face interviews. The committee members were Nikos Analytis, Chairman of the Hellenic Network for Corporate Social Responsibility, Nancy Papalexandri, Prof. at the Athens University of Economics, Elias Moschonas, Vice President of the Board and Vodafone Greece's HR Manager, Angeliki Papantoniou, Vodafone Greece's Corporate Affairs Senior Manager and Elsa Stathopoulou, Vodafone Greece's Social Investment Supervisor.

During the 5 -week window when applications could be submitted, Vodafone Greece received 292 applications from the general public, 70% of which came from individuals living in Attica, and 25% from individuals who were already in full-time employment.
