Painted in sparkling red, the cover of this amazing device is stamped with the characteristic patterns of peony flowers. This unique theme continues inside the notebook and into its keyboard. And as the matter of fact the theme with peony flowers is not chosen randomly - for this is one of the greatest Chinese symbols of prosperity, happiness and good luck. With its style HP Mini 1000 combines in one harmonious device the high-tech nature of Western culture and the mystical traditions of Asia. Well disguised advanced features Despite its obviously feminine style, this unique ultra portable notebook is surprisingly powerful. Based on an Intel Atom N270 of the new generation it has no problem dealing with everyday tasks such as surfing the web, digital images and photo editing, movies, working with documents. The 10.1" screen offers a striking image with natural, vivid colors, and the keyboard (surprisingly) is full QWERTY. An interesting detail here is that the symbols on each of the buttons on the Mini 1000 are painted with gold, which contributes to its special fashion look. The only compromise, imposed by the small size of this ultra portable notebook (HP Mini 100 weighs a little over 1 kg with battery) is the lack of DVD drive. But this is something we are already used to in these little guys. Otherwise it offers 60GB built-in hard drive, an Ethernet and two USB ports, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, card reader and VGA output for external monitor. We can add also the integrated web camera, which undoubtedly will suit fans of Skype and of course stereo speakers. The system works with Windows XP, but has no problems to cope also with Vista.
